The Heinz-Kühn-Stiftung Journalism Scholarships are awarded to talented journalists from North Rhine-Westphalia for six-week or three-month reporting excursions in underdeveloped nations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
The Heinz-Kühn-mission Foundation’s is to assist junior journalists with their education and professional development.
Junior journalists can use the Heinz-Kühn-Foundation Journalism Scholarships to improve their professional development and training in different environments, as well as to get firsthand and in-depth knowledge of the customs, opinions, and way of life in various nations.
The foundation also offers funding to candidates from poor countries who wish to get professional journalistic experience in North Rhine-Westphalia for up to three months.
The deadline for applications is November 30th, 2021.
ELIGIBILITY
Developing countries and Germany are both eligible. To be taken in a variety of nations.
Scholarships are available for young journalists from North Rhine-Westphalia and developing countries who meet the following criteria:
*Have a strong interest in development issues;
*Have extensive professional experience in journalism (a completed college education is preferred)
Are under 35 years old; and have an excellent command of the host country’s official language (candidates from abroad must at least have a basic knowledge of the German language).
On the proposal of the selection committee, the Heinz-Kühn-board Stiftung’s of trustees makes decisions.
The number of awardees is unknown.
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE:
*A lump-sum contribution toward living expenses in the host country (with scholarship payments covering training and living expenses in the host country)
*A lump-sum allowance for flight and travel expenses (the foundation pays a return air ticket for candidates from abroad)
*An allowance to cover costs of research materials (e.g. literature);
*An allowance for trips within the host country
